Grandmaster Yeon Hwan Park is a ninth-degree black belt, undefeated Korean national champion of Taekwondo from 1971 to 1975 and former coach of the U.S. Olympic and Pan-American Taekwondo teams.

The origins of specific colors within Korean culture primarily come from the Joseon Dynasty, which lasted for five centuries from 1392 to 1910. Though these five colors are also the traditional colors of China and Japan, they have different meanings and usages in Korea.

Taekwondo, in its traditional iteration, resembles a massive storehouse of offensive/defensive technique.
